I may have done a book haul … but I blame at least 4 of them on Natalie Haynes, whose book Pandora’s Jar made me want to read more Ovid, Euripides, and the Stella Duffy one (The World’s Wife). And some of them arrived earlier this month…
From everything I’ve heard, if you like Grass, you’ll be a Tepper fan. I read her South/North Shore SF duology and hated it with a passion, so I don’t need to try Grass myself 😉
Hopefully you enjoy it and don’t hate it 🙂
I actually had to go look it up, as it’s been so long.
And even those reviews don’t give me specifics (I read them back in ’06).
My fuzzy memory is absolutely no hope, no good people, no one able to make a difference. Suffering, pain, turmoil and death with no redemption of any kind. But that’s had 16 years to bubble around a bit 🙂
I’m looking forward to your review of Grass!

If you don’t mind me asking, what did you hate about the South/North Shore duology?

It’ll be my first foray into Tepper’s work. I hear good things about Grass.

I’ve read a few of her books – some worked for me, some didn’t.
