from the Food Coma that the last few days of feasting brought on. We didn’t even make it to pudding at Christmas dinner yesterday as everyone just had enough. Even coffee was a struggle.

I hope everyone reading this had a lovely time over the holidays and got to spend time relaxing and doing what they love with merriment and lots of deliciousness.

As we have done for a few years now, I spent a couple of days with friends. Two of us are “continentals” so we get the party started on Christmas Eve rather than waiting for the 25th. And as every year, we are continually refining our mulled wine recipe – it always turns out very tasty.

It also always ends with way too much food and we once again started Christmas Day with a wee walk to work off some of the deliciousness of the night before … and make room for more, obviously.

And I have to say, if spending a couple of days in excellent company isn’t what makes the holidays special already, then being sat on, leaned into, slobbered upon and generally schmoozing with dogs (four of them…all different sizes and characters – an eccentric Westie, a (mad) Scotty, a Basset Hound (you’d never know he was a neglected rescue until a few weeks ago), and a Collie (best, sanest, most chilled dog ever)) certainly made for a memorable day.

Oh, and I got the best presents ever – books and gin.

My shiny very own copy of Bakewell’s The Existentialist Cafe, Camus’ The Myth of Sisyphus, and the small bottle without the label is my friends’ homemade rhubarb and ginger gin.

I think this is the nudge I needed to decide on my 2019 reading projects. 😀

Happy Boxing Day!
