Why is it that every time I finish a great book, I just cannot decide on which book to pick up next?
Seriously, nothing on my shelves – physical or otherwise – is calling out to me.
Do I just pick one? Do I pick one that I have low expectations of? Do I pick one that I have high expectations of? Do I pick one by a favourite author? Or a favourite character? Or a re-read?
WHY IS THIS SO HARD???

And this very reason is why I developed my reading rotation schedule. Not being able to decide is “almost” as bad as not having any books to read at all 😦

What is your reading rotation schedule? I’m intrigued. How does it work?

Basically, I have about 2 months of series or authors picked out. For me, that equals about 16 different “series” (collections really). I read the first book in Series A, then I “rotate” to the first book in Series B, etc, until I return back to Series A. Then I read Book 2 in Series A, then Book 2 in Series B, etc, etc.
Since series are all different lengths they end at different times. every time I finish a series, I put a new on onto my kindle from Calibre and slide that series into the rotation. I have a “misc” series for all my standalones and try to read that a bit more often so I’m not getting a huge back log of standalones. So I read a “misc” book at least once a month.
These are all on my kindle in their various collections so all I have to do is sort the collections by most recent and voila, the oldest collection is at the back and that is the series I choose my next book from.
Hope that helps and let me know if I wasn’t clear. I have a post with pictures somewhere that I could dig up if a visual aid would help.

No, it makes perfect sense. I’m glad to hear this works for you. I’m too much of a mood reader to be able to do anything like this.

Yep, most people I’ve talked to about this say the same thing 🙂
However, if you ever get really stuck, give it a try sometime. It “might’ work, and if not, you can always go back to reading however you want 😀
