This is a buddy read with (the long-suffering) Sir Troy. We started reading (and in some cases re-reading) all the original Bond novels in order of publication.
I’m not really a reader of series but this is one I just had to investigate: I’ve loved the films ever since I was a kid and just had to find out where the films and books cross over.

Btw, I am neither a fan of Bond as a character nor of Fleming’s ideals or attitudes, but I have to admit he was great at writing descriptions of nature and knew how to combine these with a suspenseful plot.
And, well, sometimes it’s just great fun to call BS on Bond and enjoy the magnificent supporting characters….
Great! I’ve never done a buddy read before so how’s it done?

I’ve been listening to the audiobook versions and have enjoyed most of them apart from Live & Let die and The Spy Who loved me. I’ve only got The Man with The Golden Gun and the short stories left.

We are on to the first book of short stories next. It will be a re-read but we are sticking with the chronological order for the buddy read. You’re welcome to join if you like, but I have no idea when we get to the ones you haven’t read.
