This week has been another great reading week even though most of my reading is still focused on our ongoing buddy read of Time and Chance (Sharon Kay Penman, Plantagenets #2).

Exhalation (2020) by Ted Chiang.
I have been intrigued by Ted Chiang’s collection of short stories since Lillelara recommended them a few years ago (?). I’ve not read much speculative fiction but Exhalation sounded like a great way to broaden my horizon, and it was.
While I did not like all of the stories, and even DNF’d some of them because they just could not grab my interest all, I really enjoyed some of them.
I added my thoughts to each of the stories I read for the Deal Me In Challenge (but not for all of the stories in this collection) here.

Currently reading:
The Oxford Shakespeare: The Complete Works – William Shakespeare (see The Will’s World Project)
The Best Detective Stories – Cyril Hare
Lady Joker, Vol. 1 – Kaoru Takamura
Time and Chance (Plantagenets #2) – Sharon Kay Penman
And the Earth Will Sit on the Moon: Essential Stories – Nicolai Gogol
Rebel Writers: Seven Women Who Changed Their World – Celia Brayfield
I need to get a move on with my Penman read. This week was shot as far as reading, we had a celebration of life gathering for my mom in law, so that took all my free time. Back on the wagon this week!

No rush. I read not a single word on Saturday and it just made me want to go back to the book more yesterday.
And after all, spending time with family and friends is important.
How did the celebration of life go?

It went well, everyone shared stories about her. I liked the positive feel of the gathering, it’s what she would have wanted. Planning was tough but we had enough food and everything went smoothly.
